Faxing over VoIP: these fax solutions send faxes by emails and enables fax receiving to the user's email address usually in PDF or TIFF-F format. Fax numbers are always provided with the service.

The tech behind: fax over VoIP is based on the T.38 standard so if the VoIP adapter and gateway support T.38 most fax machines can simply be connected to the VoIP adapter.

Note: most VoIP companies don't provide fax support. Faxing over VoIP is usually included in their business packages.

Workaround: if your fax is not working on your residential VoIP line try to make two changes; Lower the BAUD rate to 9600 and turn off ECM = error correction mode. These are done from your fax.
